Special Events/Practices IN Ancient JudaiSm
- Circumcision - Eight days after a baby boy is born he is circumcised
- Bar Mitzvah/Bat Mitzvah - At the age of 13, boys become a Bar Mitzvah or "Son of the Commandment". At the age of 12, girls become a Bat Mitvah or "Daughter of the Commandment". This event designates that the boy/girl has become a man/woman, and is a right of passage.
- Shabbat "Sabbath" - The 7th day of the week was a day of rest, to commemorate God's rest when he created the world.
- Rosh Hashanah / Jewish New Year - Anniversary of the completion of creation. Blowing of the Shofar (Ram's horn).
- Yom Kippur "Day of Atonement" - Holiness day in the Jewish year, and 10th day of Rosh Hashanah.
